The cities of Yuba City and Marysville in California are some of the most populated stretches of land in all of Sutter and Yuba County, both located in Northern California and a big part of the greater Sacramento major metropolitan area.
As of the 2010 census, Yuba City was home to just over 65,000 people while Marysville is considerably smaller coming in with a population of just over 12,000 during that same 2010 census. Yuba City is the county seat of Sutter County and is the major part of the Yuba City Metropolitan Statistical Area, a stretch of land that encompasses all of Sutter County and Yuba County – the latter of which has Marysville as its county seat.
Like most of the other communities throughout this part of Northern California, both of these cities grew up in the middle of the Californian Gold Rush, and both experience a bit of an exodus in the immediate aftermath of that same gold rush. However, both cities were able to rebound shortly after, and in nearly 1900s they were able to push forward with new developments, new communities, and a new future – and would (and continue to today) contribute significantly to the Sacramento Metropolitan Region.
California State Route 20 is the major thoroughfare for east and westbound traffic in Marysville, running clear through Nevada city to the east and on the into Yuba City and Williams to the West before it terminates just a bit south of Fort Bragg along California State Route 1. California State Route 70 is the north-south major thorough way for Marysville, heading south towards Sacramento and up into the North and the East through the city of Quincy before it terminates in US Route 395.
Yuba City, obviously, counts California State Route 20 as one of its most trafficked roads, and California State Route 99 is the north-south highway that serves the majority of the traffic heading south to Sacramento and North to Chico from this community. All of those roads can get pretty busy (especially around both of these major metropolitan areas and county seats), which inevitably brings a lot of traffic to these highways – and more traffic unfortunately means more traffic accidents.
Yuba City alone saw 453 individuals injured or killed in traffic accidents in 2015 (according to the California Office of Traffic Safety), making it one of the more dangerous cities to drive in and around in the state of California. Marysville also saw 63 individuals injured or killed in traffic accidents in 2015, making it an even more dangerous city to drive in and around the end Yuba City when basing these details off of per capita incidents.
